Yesterday was Sarah and Dennis's wedding so today I decided to take it easy. Here's how I spent the day:
-Got up around 9:00 and had a simple, quick breakfast
-Browsed forums; caught up on the X-E Advent Calendar
-Watched cartoons: Spongebob, Rocko, Ren & Stimpy
-Started a Twitter account
-Ate lunch and watched an episode of the Venture Bros. (Now Museum, Now You Don't)
-Took a shower and then went to the grocery store. Got stuff to decorate cookies and make soup, among other things
-Watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, while also playing New Super Mario Bros. on my DS and playing with the cats.
-Checked out the AM stations on the radio; I couldn't really tune any in, but it was interesting to try.
-Read some medical info online
-Read some essays about choices, because I was feeling the pre-Monday blahs and needed to remind myself (again) that I choose to have a job.

This blog is way neglected
I need to start posting here again to remind myself of how much free time I really have! Stuff I did today after work:
For some reason I didn't actually play my new game yet, because other stuff was more interesting. But it'll be nice tomorrow knowing it's waiting for me when I get home.
- Had a snack and checked email and whatnot
- Went to Target with Mama and did some Christmas shopping. I also bought some things for myself: a Pink Floyd t-shirt, New Super Mario Bros., some Gobstopper candy canes and some more Christmas lights.
- Read the manual to my new video game
- Put up the outdoor Christmas decorations - bows and garlands on the banister, and replaced a string of lights (we leave the lights up all year, it's just easier that way. We also, for the record, have defunct cars in the yard. Yeehaw!)
- Put the new lights on my tree
- Ate dinner and watched the Simpsons
- Made a list of all the Christmas gifts I've bought so far and how much they cost
- Straightened up my room
- Downloaded some Christmas music and put it on my iPod
- Made hot cocoa and played the piano
For some reason I didn't actually play my new game yet, because other stuff was more interesting. But it'll be nice tomorrow knowing it's waiting for me when I get home.

October 4-10
I don't remember a lot of what I did this week. I really need to post here more often. Actually, a lot of the week was eaten up by anxious tension waiting for a call for a job interview that so far hasn't come.
What I remember doing, before today:
What I remember doing, before today:
- Went to Kristin's birthday party Sunday, at Sarah's house. Sarah made cake and Brunswick stew for everyone. A lot of the party was spent with people bringing up their playlists online and going through them. There was also a big political debate, and then we played a card game called "Let's Kill".
- I made this collage (it's supposed to be arranged by color, but I goofed in a couple of spots). After that I decided I wanted to actually have the album covers for albums I only own digitally, so I printed out a few until my printer ran out of ink. Then I decided to try and draw a couple of them, but I still haven't finished them.
- Played chess with my mom. So far neither of us can ever get checkmate, we always end in a stalemate. My mom said she used to do that to my grandpa a lot, so maybe she has a talent for stalemates or something. There was an incident where I had a chess piece in my hand, and our old gray cat, Lady Blue, smacked it right out of my hand and Frieda almost ate it. Luckily I shouted and she dropped it. Being loud is useful sometimes.
- Signed up for NaNoWriMo. More about that on the main blog soon.
- Discovered hulu.com (well, not discovered, Roni told me about it) and watched a bunch of Simpsons episodes
- Wrote a couple of blog posts in different places
- Flipped through my new German books
- Got out a white board that I'm using to write down ideas for stuff to do: those activities I always think of when it's late and I don't have the energy to do them, and then I don't think of them when I'm bored the next day. It helps a lot, especially to break the endless refresh Myspace/refresh Yahoo/refresh blogs cycle I tend to get into when I can't think of anything else to do.
- Read a Babysitters Club snark, which led to doing a handwriting analysis (because someone brought it up in the comments) that turned out to be mostly junk.
- We went outside and stuffed pumpkin bags - the kind that are like colored trash bags with pumpkin faces on them - with torn-up paper grocery bags. Using leaves is more fun but we barely get any in Florida until nearly January, plus it was wet outside from rain.
- I watched an episode of South Park on Hulu, and then I saw that they have whole movies, so I watched Weird Science. I love 80s movies, especially when they involve ridiculous computer stuff that manages to look dated and futuristic at the same time.
- We went to Walmart, first to look around and talk about what we want for Christmas (we like to plan early), and to get groceries. We wanted a lot of fall stuff: we got some Halloween candy and some apple cider, and I have things to make pumpkin bread and strawberry pie. (Strawberries aren't very autumnal, but I always associate pie with fall.) I also wanted to get a notebook so I could make notes for NaNoWriMo, but I totally forgot about it.
- I started on my Christmas wishlist because I know my mom is going to start bugging me about it in a couple weeks. Mostly I'm asking for toys and art stuff.
- Added some stuff to my Myspace playlist, while talking to friends on MSN.

October 1-3
Wednesday I didn't do a whole lot; mainly I just played the guitar and surfed the internet. Thursday I had to take my mom to the hospital for a procedure - she's fine, but we were at the hospital most of the day, and then I napped for four hours, so that nearly ate up the whole day.
Friday was more fun. Well, it won't sound that fun, but it was. First off, I didn't get that job interview, because the people never emailed me back, but that's okay because when I realized how much gas I'd be using to get there, I realized I wouldn't be getting paid enough for it to be worth it.
We went grocery shopping - ran into Joy at the store, and she invited me to... something on Sunday. I need to call Sarah and find out exactly what it is I agreed to go to, and what time, and all that. Anyway we finished up the shopping, and I had "White Rabbit" playing in the car and my mom started warbling along with it, which was funny.
We stopped and got Subway for dinner, and then I talked to people on MSN for awhile. Then I decided to clean the bathroom. I scrubbed the tub and mopped the floor, and washed the rugs. Then I noticed we still had a lot of groceries out because the cabinets were too full, so we went through the cabinets and threw away old stuff, and I lowered a shelf to give us more space. Now the pantry (really two cabinets side-by-side) is all nice and organized. I also washed my bedroom rug.
I also practiced the guitar a bit. And that was the day, basically :)

Tuesday, September 30th
- Had a long conversation with Roni about phonemes, accents, mishearings and other linguistic stuff
- Browsed a bit on the Etymology Dictionary
- Caught part of a documentary on the Anthology of American Folk Music
- Watched the Simpsons and Pop-Up Video
- Practiced guitar some more; slowly working on the intro to "Classical Gas"
- Listened to "A Trick of the Tail" by Genesis (the song, not the album). Wasn't too impressed.
- Started to do yoga; did one sun salutation and decided I'd rather do something more energetic right then, so I went out to the trampoline (after dark). I jumped for a minute or two and then noticed an enormous spiderweb, which freaked me out. Tomorrow I'm going back to see what kind of spider it is.
- Played around with some German matching cards I made awhile back
- Took a bubble bath, listened to King Crimson and read my Civ II guide, all at the same time. (Woohoo! Multitasking!)
- Applied for a babysitting job
- Wrote an essay about certain music being "overrated"
- Browsed the unschooling forums/blogs

September 28-29
Today was a pretty good day. Well, I was kinda depressed when I first got up this afternoon, but I talked to Roni and then ate dinner and watched the Simpsons, and then I felt better.
Other stuff I did:
Yesterday, the 28th, ended badly with an argument. But before that, I did other things:
Other stuff I did:
- Practiced Spanish on the Rosetta Stone
- Applied to 3 jobs
- Filled out a Myspace survey
- Played chess and Scattergories with my mom. While we were playing she told me some stories about my grandfather and how much he loved chess. Oh, another cool thing was that I wanted to put a CD on, and I happened to grab Queen II without realizing how perfect that album is for a chess game, with the White Queen and Black Queen songs and the white and black sides of the album. I'd always thought of that album in an Alice-in-Wonderland sort of context; this was the first time I thought about it relating to chess.
- Read about Jim Henson on Wikipedia
- Practiced Silent Night on the guitar
- Had some long talks with friends about school and parenting. Usually I'm not good at debating calmly, but I managed to make a pretty convincing argument against punishing kids, I think.
- Made this post, which led to reading about spiders' web decorations on Wikipedia
Yesterday, the 28th, ended badly with an argument. But before that, I did other things:
- Watched some of I Love the 70s vol. 2
- Read a bunch of unschooling essays (about anger, ironically)
- Went exploring in the woods, although I couldn't go too far because the cats started following me and I didn't want them getting out near the road. But I discovered a lot of fall wildflowers growing in our yard, in a side we stay away from because there's a lot of junk that's been left there from when other people lived in the trailer. I also saw a lot of butterflies and a really cool spiny orb-weaver
- Put up the Halloween decorations! Yay!
- Watched 2 episodes of the Venture Bros., one with commentary, and there was some good info about how animation works and how certain details are harder to animate than others
- Watched some Queen videos on Youtube and talked to friends about how I'm weirded out by claymation
- Started this blog, and The Musical Box
- Went through all my old mix CDs and catalogued what songs are on them (this took a few hours, mostly because I kept going back and forth to talk on MSN)
